About Stock Alerts
Stock Alerts exists to make the public financial disclosures that move markets — SEC insider filings, congressional stock trades, and institutional 13F holdings — readable, searchable, and actionable for everyday investors, not just professionals with expensive terminals.
What we do
Every trading day, corporate executives, members of Congress, hedge funds, and large shareholders are legally required to disclose their stock transactions to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission or under the STOCK Act. These disclosures are public, but they are scattered across raw regulatory databases in formats most people never look at.
We ingest those filings the moment they are published, translate them into plain English, and organize them into dashboards and articles anyone can understand:
- SEC Form 4 insider trades — every open-market purchase and sale by corporate officers, directors, and 10% owners, with context on the insider's role, transaction history, and the size of the trade relative to their holdings.
- Congressional stock trading — every U.S. House and Senate STOCK Act disclosure, browsable by member, ticker, state, and chamber.
- Institutional 13F filings — quarterly holdings of 185+ hedge funds, asset managers, and notable investors, including new positions, exits, and quarter-over-quarter changes.
- The Stock Alerts app — a mobile companion for iOS and Android with 26 configurable price, technical, and filing alert types, so you can be notified when something you follow actually happens.
Where our data comes from
We believe you should always know the provenance of a number before you act on it. Our data comes from a small set of primary and licensed sources:
- SEC EDGAR — the Commission's official filing system is the primary source for every Form 4, Schedule 13D/13G, 13F, 8-K, 10-K, and 10-Q we reference. We link back to the original filing on sec.gov from our articles so you can verify anything we publish.
- Official congressional disclosures — periodic transaction reports filed under the STOCK Act by members of the U.S. House and Senate.
- Licensed market-data providers — real-time and historical price, earnings, and dividend data used for quotes, charts, and technical indicators.
How we handle accuracy
Regulatory filings are legal documents, and we treat them that way. Our processing pipeline parses each filing directly from the source document rather than relying on third-party summaries. Where a filing is amended or corrected by the filer, we update our records to reflect the amendment. Derived figures — such as the value of a transaction or an insider's remaining stake — are computed from the numbers reported in the filing itself, and every article links to the underlying document on SEC EDGAR.

Stock Alerts is a financial information service, not a financial advice service. We are not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer, we do not manage money, and nothing on this site or in our app is a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Insider and congressional trading data describes what other people did with their own money — it is not a prediction of what any stock will do next. Always do your own research and consider speaking with a licensed professional before making investment decisions.
How the site is funded
Stock Alerts is funded by optional premium subscriptions in our mobile app and by advertising on this website. Advertisers have no influence over the data we publish, the filings we cover, or the way we present them. We do not accept payment from companies, insiders, or funds to feature — or suppress — coverage of their filings.
